Travel Diary: The Gilli Islands, Lombok – Turtles, Dives and Stars

NO ONE HAS A CARE IN THE WORLD

Anyone who’s been to Lombok has probably visited one of the three beautiful Gilli islands located just west of Lombok. Gilli Trawangan is the most inhabited island and is one of the best dive spots located only a 2 hour boat ride from Bali’s Penang harbour. It’s a popular spot for turtles and a dive near any of the three islands means you’re sure to spot one, if not many.
None of the islands have cars nor motorbikes and this inevitably gives them a peacefully castaway feel, an equal number of bars and secluded spots on Trawangan means you can have a lively night in the evening or just simply sit around a bonfire and star gaze.
Gilli air, the closest of the three to Lombok and the second largest has more of an emphasis on private resorts and so seemingly feels like the more romantic island of them all, also better for snorkelling due to the far less damaged wall of coral surrounding it.

Outfits featured: I’m wearing off white crochet shorts from Zara, denim sleeveless swing shirt from American Apparel, sunglasses – Ray Ban.
