It’s that time of year again that takes over every model, their agency, apparel brand, fashion magazine and fashionistas life: Fashion Week. For a month every designer who is any designer will be showcasing their Spring/ Summer 2013 collection to the world’s buyers, press and media, all around the world.
Were right in the middle of the daddy of fashion weeks, New York Fashion week and Jason Wu’s collection is so creatively distanced from much I’ve seen so far (to be fair, I am a huge fan of his super talented work). He’s a king at mixing extremes, testing the success of the unimaginable,
in February, I reported on his military and oriental merge, which was a huge success, this season he’s merged dainty romantic lace with grungy aggressive leather, and the result… Perfect equilibrium – oh and he’s a veteran at classically cut pieces too.
No doubt we’ll see this lace with leather trend repeated in many outfit styles starting now through to Spring, but also his twilight navy blue from his collection is going to be a big colour for next Spring teamed with pastels, and teamed with deep Forest greens and Maroons for this winter. And I love a navy.
